In connection with the 20th year of service, SSD started a new session for housewives. The classes were commenced on 9th March 2013 at 11.00a.m at Sree Sankara Natyamandapam.

Prof .P.V.Peethambaran and Mrs. Sudha Peethambaran inaugurated the classes. Prof.C.P.Unnikrishnan, an authority on Natya Sastra organized a workshop and interacted with housewives to eschew their doubts and apprehensions. The classes are handled by Mrs. Sudha Peethambaran, Director SSD, based on the technical advice of Prof. C.P.Unnikrishnan.
Presently, there are FIVE batches for housewives & working women.

Faculty : The teaching faculty is headed by Mrs. Sudha Peethambaran, assisted by Twenty Teaching Assistants.
Senior students of the School are given training under Gurukulam System to become teachers. Teachers Training Programme of Sree Sankara School of Dance is a unique one - only the senior students of the school are given training and posted as teachers to the various centers..

Prof. C.P.UNNIKRISHNAN, Chief Guru of the Short Gurukulam Scheme, imparts training to the inmates for producing new dance programmes.

It has grown into one of largest traditional classical schools in India. The traditional Natyamandapam of the schoolis at Kalady ( the main centre of the school). With a humble beginning at the Nehru Arts Society, Kalady with 20 students rose to around 1000highlighting the role played by SSD ant its promoters in motivating the students of classical arts.
